How To Brand Your Own Skincare

When brainstorming how to start your own business and join the millions of people that have started their own business in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing that may come to mind is starting your own skincare business. Once you have the idea and ambition to brand your own skincare, you are already halfway there! Branding your own skincare can be a difficult process to navigate, but at Genie Supply we are here to help.

In this blog we discuss how to brand your own skincare and the appropriate steps you can take to get your skincare brand started off right!

Let’s go.

Planning:

When branding your own skincare, there are several considerations you should take into account to ensure your brand is successful. While not all considerations are mandatory we have included a list of considerations and helpful steps to take when branding your own skincare. Before jumping into selecting and manufacturing your skincare product think about the following:

Determine your target market:

The first step in branding your own kin care line is to identify who your target market is. Are you targeting a specific age group, skin type, or concern? Understanding your target audience will help you to find the perfect skincare product to brand.

Define your brand identity:

Once you know who your target market is, you can start thinking about your brand identity. This includes your brand's name, logo, packaging, and overall aesthetic. Your brand identity should be cohesive and one that your target audience would be drawn to when purchasing a skincare product. Consider what niche market you are looking to target and how your brand identity will help your brand to stand apart from others.

Finding your product:

Now that you have determined your target market and defined your brand identity, it is time to select the product you will be selling to customers. While it is possible to skip the planning stage, this planning will come in handy when you begin selecting your product.

When branding your own skincare, there are 2 main options for selecting your product:

  • private label

  • custom formulation

In this blog we will discuss private labeling as it allows you to brand your own skincare without having to invest in formulation services. At Genie Supply we provide both services, and if you are more interested in custom formulating your product go to this webpage to learn more about custom formulating with Genie Supply.

Using a private label product to begin branding your own skincare is the fastest route to market, and don’t let the idea of private labeling scare you off. There are several ways in which you can make your brand unique through your packaging choices and marketing strategies, and consumers will have no way of knowing if your custom formulated or privated labeled your product.

When selecting your private label skincare carefully consider the product’s ingredient listing and how these ingredients will boost your target audience’s skincare routine. There are a variety of products to choose from including:

  • moisturizers

  • cleansers

  • face masks

  • serums

  • more!

Once you decide which type of product you are going to start branding your own skincare line with, it is time to order samples! Below we have highlighted a few of our favorite private label skincare products at Genie Supply from each category, but there are many more to choose from. Select Your Packaging:

The next step to branding your own skincare is selecting the packaging for your product. Your packaging along with your formulation is what will set your brand apart from others. Using the ideas you came up with in the planning stage, create a packaging that will match your brand identity and speak to your target audience.

If you are looking to create a sustainable brand identity, for example, select sustainable packaging such as our line of 50% PCR packaging. Select packaging colors that your target audience will like seeing on their skincare shelf.

At Genie Supply, we have a variety of skincare packaging to choose from several customization options including custom package coloring, the option to add custom unit cartons, and screen printing services.

Place Your Order:

After you have selected your product and packaging, it is time to place your order! The time between order placement and the completion of your project are different for every skincare manufacturer. At Genie Supply we typically estimate this time to be between 6 and 8 weeks. Your manufacturer should set a clear timeline at the time you place your order so you are best able to anticipate when you will be able to begin selling product.

Once you have received your goods, it is time to start marketing your product. This can be a difficult, but not impossible, task. Marketing your products to your target audience and sticking to your brand identity will help you to find customers and continue to foster customer loyalty.

Branding your own skin care line takes time and effort, but the rewards can be well worth it. By following these steps and staying true to your brand's identity, you can create a product that resonates with your target audience and stands out in a crowded market.
