Read Before Ordering: Glass Cosmetic Jars

Although we no longer offer packaging services, we’re still experts in the topic. Here’s what you need to know about glass!

A Crash Course to Glass Cosmetic Containers:

Glass cosmetic containers are catching on in popularity, because of their low MOQ availability, expensive look and feel, and eco-friendliness. But how much do you actually know about glass cosmetic jars?

Strap in - it's time for a crash course in three easy steps:

1. Material Classification

Here are your glass choices:

  • Quartz glass

  • Silicate glass

  • Soda lime glass

  • Fluoride glass

2. Shape Classification

  • Round: Circular cross-section of the bottle - the most widely used shape

  • Square: Difficult to make, but seems like more and more beauty companies are starting to use square glass jars.

  • Curved: It also has a circular cross-section, but a curve in the y-direction (height).

  • Oval: Has a unique shape, but smaller capacity.

3. Advantages of Glass Packaging

  • A glass material has good barrier properties, and can prevent oxygen or other gases from reaching the inner contents.

  • Glass bottle can be recycled, thereby reducing packaging cost and opening up the ability to have a "customer recycling" program.

  • Easy to check the packaging color and quality.

  • In health and safety terms, glass has a good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for acidic substances.

Do you need glass packaging for your beauty brand? We can’t stress this enough: ORDER SAMPLES FROM YOUR POTENTIAL MANUFACTURER!

Last piece of advice:

For oils, use a darker colored glass; it can be reduce exposure to ultraviolet radiation by 90%.

In addition, plastic material can destroy oil qualities and/or leech harmful chemicals into the oil base.
