How It’s Made

Although we don’t currently offer packaging services, we did in the past, and we know the process back to front!

One of the first questions that may come to mind when researching cosmetic bottle manufacturers and cosmetic plastic jar manufacturers is: how are they made?

The manufacturing process of cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars begins with either thermoplastic (recyclable) or thermosetting (non-recyclable) resin materials, and can include various methods of molding, including blow molding, extrusion blow molding, lamination, and thermoforming. Products are then quality controlled and inspected to ensure FDA approval or ISO certification. (source)

Where do cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars come from?

Unfortunately, for now, there are no manufacturers of cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars in the US, only vendors. They are all imported from China or other places in Southeast Asia. In the US, they come from vendors who purchase their products from manufacturers in those countries.

Vendors in the US

Overall, vendors in the US have a lot of options and flexibility in how many products you can order. Let’s review a few of the top vendors and take a look at their pros and cons:

1. Berlin Packaging

Pro: Shipping is quick, and you can get your cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars in just 1 to 2 days.

Con: They do NOT offer screen printing with their products. Instead, you have to do the labeling yourself.

2. SKS -

SKS is very similar to Berlin Packaging. Again, shipping is quick, but you will not have the option for screen printing, which is a big drawback.

3. Cosmetic Packaging Now

Pro: This is a smaller company based in Dallas, and they have eco-friendly plastic and packaging options.

Con: Once again, they do not offer screenprinting.

Reminder: All 3 of these companies do not manufacture cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars. They simply buy from overseas companies and resell to you. When you use these companies, you pay for convenience. In fact, they have no competitive advantages over the next company on our list (AliExpress), except that they have already tested the quality and have the specs.

4. AliExpress

Pro: AliExpress vendors buy directly from the factories in China, so they have immediate domestic access to stock and the newest molds. They often also sell in low MOQs (minimum order quantities).

Cons: It can take up to two weeks to get your cosmetic bottles and cosmetic plastic jars, and there is no guarantee on quality. You may receive products that have been rejected during the quality control process or extras from other batches.

For this reason, you take the double risk of getting poor quality items that you may also never be able to reorder (or even worse - never use, because they’re faulty!). In other words, you risk inconsistency at best, and a total waste of your money at worst.
